Third Lanark AC Football Club

Third Lanark Athletic Club

Welcome to the Official Website of The Third Lanark Athletic Club.

A limited company since 1903, the old club went bust in 1967 and their ground sold to developers. But a hardy band of loyal followers have kept the company and club name alive for over 40 years and attempted to restart teams of both sexes and at different age groups ever since.

Most attempts fell by the wayside, but the Amateur side of 2007 have continued and are re-establishing the football club in Glasgow. Third Lanark were founder members of the Scottish Football League, first proposed and part-funded the Glasgow Charity Cup and were one of the first Scottish teams to tour South America and Europe. 3rds were the third team in Glasgow, a team with proud military origins and a rich history. We were First Division Champions, Second Division Champions and Scottish & Glasgow Cup Winners.

Thanks to the likes of club historians Bob Laird & Bert Bell the name lives on, and has become the most famous defunct football club in the world! Now we are back.

Official Club Forum

We would like to invite all those with an interest in all things Third Lanark to get involved in our Club Forum which is hosted by our Official Club Historian Bert Bell:

Please check out Bert's excellent website which is our very own 'History Corner' and in which you'll find some great tales and photos from our 99 year existence. Both Bert and Bob Laird have kept the memory alive and their extensive knowledge and memorabilia collections have ben invaluable in 3rds resurgence. Bob can be found every weekend at the Scottish Football Museum at Hampden Park and always manages to slip in a few 3rd Lanark mentions in every talk he gives to visitors groups. Pop in and say hello to Bob and enjoy one of the best museums in the world at our National Stadium. Visit Bert Bell's fan site: www.thirdlanarkac.co.uk.
